Accepting Help Without Demand
Libya must understand that either they accept the assistance of the U.N. or they choose not to accept this assistance. Either they accept the help or not; however they can't pick and choose as to what they want and there of limiting the movements of those attempting to defuse this conflict.
Even though the United States has some small part in this affair we are not the main player in this drama.
Either the United Nations and others have complete say in this incident via taking the wishes of the Libyan people into account, or the people of Libya must hash this out on their own accord without any assistance.
It's unfortunate that losses must occur yet we will need a clear and decisive part with the consent of the Libyan people backing the U.N. decisions. As far as Moammar Kadafi is concerned, this individual must be extracted and brought before the United Nations to be tried for war crimes as this will not only cut off the head of the snake but will disengage the Kadafi military actions against the people.
As I had suggested previously, surgical air strikes would be the answer concerning hostile troop movements against the Libyan people by the Kadafi forces. A no fly zone can be successfully accomplished simply by utilizing satellite and G.P.S. technology by pin pointing anything in the air.
Air support can be dispatched effectively through satellite imagery and concordance or any unknown aircraft that might violate the no fly zone. Remember, the further away you are the more you can see, or the larger your field of vision becomes concerning a region.
Air strikes can be extremely effective concerning verified hostile troop movements, or main bodies of hostile troop ground forces not to mention any hostile fighters in the air scarfing civilian fighting forces. Of course discernment and prudence must be excised in determining to if U.N. strikes will effect any friendly forces in the specific area of engagement.
Again, other options in my opinion would be in extracting Moammar Kadafi via covert U.N. operations, using Intelligence drones, attack drones etc. As far as assisting rebel forces, I would only suggest aiding these freedom fighters in the way of humanitarian aid and not via supplying ordinances of any kind.
Regarding the rebuilding of Libya, this is both very expensive, time consuming and costly. Not only this, but I believe that the main body of American view this as just another unpopular conflict that the U.S. seems to be wanting to engage in that will only add to the defense spending and there of raising taxes etc.
America Is Not Ready To Pour Tax Dollars Into Unpopular Conflicts
In other words, I don't believe that the American public is ready to invest millions of our tax dollars into a country that has hated us for quite some time. For example, even though Moammar Kadafi is a tyrannical dictator that in effect murders his populaces, the populace has stated that they will unite again with this idiot should foreign forces occupy their land for any reason.
What does this tell us? That the Libyan nation is just holding it's hand out to us once more with threats and restraining conditions. In short, help us as we need you however; if you do something that offends us, we will turn against you and other allied forces trying to help us.
Moammar Kadafi Is Utilizing Old World Battle Theater Tactics
Moammar Kadafi is utilizing old world battle theater tactics in cutting off communications, food, fuel and propaganda to starve the rebel fighters out from remote locations and thus, my next set of suggestions are as follows.
The N.A.T.O. forces can implement less aggressive tactics such as intel gathering, propaganda, communication disruption via drone and allied aircraft, shutting down supply lines etc. Currently, this dictator is on the run and moreover is desperate and scared.
This will make him even more volatility then ever. Scar tactics will work to a point but then will eventually work against U.N. efforts and thus quick and effective resolutions will need to be enacted immediately.
Again, the Libyan people need to get on the same page of those attempting to assist them in this conflict and moreover work with the United Nations, N.A.T.O. instead of issuing demands and ultimatums and so fourth.
Even though the United States is a compassionate nation, we must consider that this is really not our fight and we should stay out of it at all cost past our activities with the U.N. It is not our place to arm civilians nor to engage directly with any hostile forces in Libya.
Again, the no fly zone shouldn't even be on the table along with anything else unless we have the full support of the Libyan people. Concerning who to speak to in the Libyan government? Firstly, we have to recognize that the current governmental Libyan in place at this point is Moammar Kadafi and his supporters.
The resistance is largely unorganized and you really don't know who your dealing with over all, therefore we should be very careful in whom were speaking to in Libya. Regarding the part of the United States in supporting human rights in the world, it is not up to us to save the world and we must recognize that this is a global problem and not just ours.
Of course, in a perfect world all human rights would be recognized however, we should not let ourselves be baited into the conflicts of others especially when they have proven themselves to be a hostile entity to us in the past, whom moreover seem to be using us out of convenience.
To arm these Libyan freedom fighters would send a negative message to other nations in the east and otherwise. For the United States to send in peace keeping ground forces or otherwise into Libya or other nation would send a bad message to other countries in the way that we are bullies that never seem to respect the wishes of other sovereign nations.
Al Queda And The Taliban: Who Are They?
When we think of Al Queda, we often time view them as a band of murdering thugs and thus, they support this view through a twisted view of what the Koran actually says. I have a copy of the Koran as do many of you and thus is easily declarable that the vie currently taken by Al Qaeda is strictly taken out of context from what mainstream Islamic teaching really has to contribute.
If we really take a close look at Al Qaeda we would see that this movement was started via a conflict in which took place between Israel and the Arab world. These folks were imprisoned as they were viewed as rebels, or insurgents against the Israeli government and imprisoned by that same government if I remember correctly. This conflict was over reality and differences in spiritual doctrine, as I recall.
The U.S. administrations of the past sided with Israel through arming Israel against its foes along with passing certain policies that furthered, or backed up Israel over other factions etc. When you get past all the smoke, these are another group of oppressed people using religion as many do including the Christians.
How do we better our relationships with Al Qaeda ? The answer is to simply open up constructive dialog with these folks, by withdrawing from another conflict that really doesn't belong to us as a country. Again, we as a country have been bated into anothers conflict via our compassion being used against us and it's time that we start reassessing what were doing concerning our foreign policies.
In short, radical Islam in essence belongs to a group of people whom feel oppressed by other nations. I would strongly recommend or advise opening up constructive dialog with these leader to invoke over all peace via addressing their concerns, or difficulties in which they feel they are enduring.
These are hard decisions to make and enact however this will bring global peace, until these matters are addressed through diplomatic means the fight will continue. U.S. policies must change concerning or foreign relationships along with our engagement or conflict policies.
When folks feel threatened, oppressed and betrayed often times they will pick up cause under flag and behind religion, fighting for the ideology, faith and cause. Remove these grievances and you will remove cause and replace that hostile cause, or ideology with ideas to promote peace under a united flag and cause.
As I've stated before, Al Kida is an ideology that must be dispelled however this isn't enough to do in itself as we must also address the root problems that keep this thing going. The only way to do this is to actually find out what the grievances are and then address them.
I don't agree with Al Qaeda's murderous tactics; I don't agree with their ideology yet, I understand that still waters run deep and these are just people acting out in a way that seems best to them even though it has nothing to do with Divinity.
There's no such thing as a extremest religion or faith system more so then extremest people whom twist religion to whatever fits their cause. Anything that promotes killing or any other sort of evil is not of Divinity and that includes killing your brother or sister in the name of God.
Concerning U.S interactions with other countries, it doesn't matter if a country is predominantly Islam, Christian, Buddhist, or Hindu; as we are all human beings with basic human needs. It doesn't matter if a nation is viewed as a democracy, kingship or another form of dictatorship, all nations deserve to be treated equally and fair concerning their dealings with us.
I don't believe that this has always been the case in past administrations. However, I do believe that the current Obama Administration is moving in the right direction. I believe that the Obama Administration is on the right track in dealing with various countries and I hope that they continue to do the right thing despite all the heckles and nay sayers.
Muammar Gaddafi And Libyan Fighters
The nobility of a Nation's humanity and integrity is judged in the way they treat their Enemies, even in death.
I think we all understand that Gaddafi was a distributional out of control tyrant, and that the people have the right to be outraged and angry concerning the activities of this man over the last forty two years.
But by displaying the tattered body of a enemy such as his was, or in parading him around while half alive and then displaying him for days after his death, is pretty much the act of barbarism that essentially paints the Libyan people in a bad light.
I would also say, that to actually shoot this man in the head, defiling his body and beating him severely before his death instead of turning him over to the world court, is also a display of violence and possible war crime that in turn, doesn't make the ones that carried out these acts out any better then the Tyrant himself.
By conducting themselves in this way against the former leader only serves to show the world that this land is still stuck back in the days of the wild, wild west, in where the laws of the land are gray or blurred at best and violent in every way.
I don't know if the Libyan people are aware of this or not, but it's one thing to bring down a tyrant and quite another to make a spectacle our of a dead leader's body by dragging him around the streets.
It is better to take a mass murder such as Gaddafi and throw him in a unmarked grave facing down, and then to forget about him and move on with the affairs of state.
The thing that makes us better as a people over that of a Tyrant and his regime, is in the way we approach matters, the way we deal with things in contrast to the person that oppresses us.
To fight the good fight is about conducting ourselves in a honorable way throughout, and even showing a certain amount of respect for the fallen enemies of our Nation.
It's easy to get caught up in the madness of war and conflict especially, when that war has cost us so much however, we must remember who we are and the honorable principles that we stand for, and that these honorable attributes should never be lost in the chaos of conflict, if at all possible.
Also may I say, that to display a fallen tyrant is to give him what he's always sought after in life being “notoriety and fame”.
You see, a person like this always maintains power over those whom he's oppressed even in death especially, when the oppressed give him that power over them via honoring the dictator in death via their frenzied actions.
In short, it's a noble thing to bring the end to tyranny over any people however, like with anything else, it's in how you do it that separates us from the enemy.
Currently, I would say that it's not only time to heal a Nation, but for that Nation to always remember what has occurred in the past, and the price of freedom it took to regain freedom, to learn from the event itself, and then to move on and leave the rest in the past while fixing your eye on what could be in the future.
In any clash between good and evil there will always be the causalities of conflict that further, wound deeply for years to come yet, the righteous must always be sure in not permitting the evil in which they fight against to ever infect them with the perverse evil nature that wars against them.
The Libyan people have won a huge victory against the evil forces of intolerance and hate, but where will they go from here in their new found freedom?
Will they move on to be a part in finding resolution to the issues that face their country, or will they choose to generate even more conflict that will end up destroying their Nation, this is the pressing question that I have for this region of the world.
But for now, our prayers are with you all, Libya. We look forward to seeing your Nation prosper as you've come a long way but like the rest of us, we have a ways to go before we all get to where we need to be.
