Product Of Your Environment -Victims Of
Circumstance
There's been a debate over the years
in that violent movies, games and music don't really having bearing on a persons
will or temperament yet there's been so many cases through the past years that
indicate differently.
I we should start off by examining
what is known as social conditioning that encompasses and dictates the way we
view ourselves or what we feel that society expects from us over
all.
For instance, high fashion modeling
tells us that we should all be super thin to which usually leads to anorexia or
bulimia to achieve the look, or that we should all look like muscle freaks to
which can impair range of motion and breathing in some extreme
cases.
Social conditioning also dictates
that we all should have exciting lives full of adventure with a lot violence
mixed in between, or moreover that we must be excessively rich to obtain some
form of admiration and respect from others in society.
Yes, a lot of this programming is
structured to teach good morals and values, or in doing the right things by
others such as self-sacrifice for the good of all or even in giving up one's
life to merely make a point.
The good guy always rides off in to
the sun set with the girl because he did the right thing by others. We see the
hero whom over comes all adversity saves the world at the last minute despite
the great odds stacked against him or her, and how they become legends of their
time as a result.
If we are a little different then
we're pretty much considered freaks, if were a bit over weight then we're
considered fat, lazy or UN-kept and lastly, if were not at the top of our class
then were considered mediocre or stupid by our teachers and
peers.
In short, if we don't measure up to
societie's views and expectations of us then we are loosers or failures in life,
right? And thus, this induced over all mindset given to us adversely effects
our chances in obtaining good jobs or being motivated in fulfilling our goals.
Of achieving success on any level, don't you agree?
Really what types of messages do we
receive on a daily basis when you think about it? If I had to make a educated
guess I would surmise, that I'd have to be thin, good looking, super
intelligent, rich, successful, aggressive, dominering, really ambitious and
violent at times if I'm going to be noticed in life. After all, isn't this a
dog eat dog world to where only the strongest survive?
Ok, moving on, our society not only
undergoes these psychological pressures to look good and to be successful but
then has to deal with other pressing problems that are direct opposition to
these messages and dreams that they might have such as unemployment, low wages,
divorces and other less then savory issues to deal with that over all causes
excessive stress in out lives.
That moreover imply failure in our
lives more so then success if you weigh it against the the over all societal
messages were fed from childhood on up to present day. Now, with all these mixed
messages in play having to do with success, conduct, appearance and the way were
supposed to live our lives. Do you see where some confusion might be
generated?
Let's look at what our children watch
on television, hear on the radio, play on the video games etc. For today’s kid
it's all about fashion or in having the best clothing, shoes, cars etc. over
academic excellence or family unity and values.
The first handicap out of many that
our children currently have against them is in that most come from broken homes.
Yes, I said broken homes. Not single parent homes or dwellings, not latch key
homes but broken homes due to divorce or some other undissipated sad
event.
The family structures are gone for
most children and so, they really don't have any concept or know what it is to
be under a unified government such as the authority of two people the child
knows as parents.
Basically, all the kid sees is two
adult people in some instances that can be manipulated quite easily for the sole
reason that their at war with one another. The kid doesn't see himself as
belonging to a real family but more so just another player in a private dispute.
The attitude adopted by the child is, "He that dies with the most toys wins".
Sound familiar?
So right off the bat these kids don't
have any real concept of what family love, unity or mutual authority really
consist of and thus, all their left with is the mixed messages coming from
music, television and other medias to fill in the holes.
The child grows up listening to
violent lyrics, playing violent video games and watching one violent movie right
after another filled with murder, sexual perversity and unbelievable violence.
Ok, what is the message that this particular kid is
receiving?
A child, or young adult that's in the
process of attempting to control their raging hormones while feeling isolated,
alone, unwanted and misunderstood by the entire world, who may or may not look
to drugs as a way out of his or her pain.
At this point we have adverse
messages coming from mainstream media programing such as disrespect, disliking
and complete contempt for authority on whatever level not to mention all this
being processed by a child’s undeveloped mind trying to make sense of a planet
gone awry around them.
A child that feels misunderstood and
alone in many instances who wants to be heard or make their mark in the world in
some way. Is this a recipe for disaster, I ask you? Let's not forget the child
or young adult that was subjected to emotional and psychical abuse such as
negative messages.
Messages such as, "Your worthless"
or "You'll never amount to anything" , etc. to sexual abuse and other more
hostile abuses coming from the parents and peer structures. What kinds of impact
do you think this has on a young and impressionable mind?
Ok, back to the Constitutional laws
and values to which has been seriously abused in my opinion. The right to
expression and free speech is a good thing however, it does have liabilities to
it. We do have the right not to be censored and moreover the right to exercise
or creative abilities yet, we also have a social and moral obligation to enhance
society through positive and constructive messages.
We are responsible and accountable in
what harm we cause either directly or indirectly especially when it comes to our
younger members of society, don't you agree?
Yes, our creative messages are
heard by impressionable minds that actually go out and try to live the movie or
song. Case in point. "Catcher In The Rye" or "Helter Skelter" for
example.
Just because we have the right in
free speech and the lack of censorship doesn't mean that we don't have a
responsibility to safeguard what younger members of society hear and see. We,
like our government must lead by example. Yes, this would impede or creative
efforts but we must choose between the lessor of two evils in this
instance.
The sad truth is that we have to
recognize that there will always be folks out there that will misinterpreted,
misconstrue or take a word, message, movie, song or advertisement in the wrong
or twisted sort of way given their upbringing or the way they perceive life and
their specific role in society.
Have you by chance ever noticed that
when we see a shooter or group of shooters that they are normally the nerdy
looking kid or kids dressed entirely in black? Welding high profile revolvers or
shotgun something like you would see in a Client Eastwood
movie.
Have you ever noticed in how these
young assassins make reference to a favorite or song in the letters left behind,
or how they seemingly wish to come off as the hero’s of the day by killing the
alleged oppressors in the school, mall or store parking lot?
Where do you
suppose they get this wiley and violent notion?
Have you ever noticed your young son
or daughter put off everything including your parental request to listen to a
song or watch a specific part in a movies?
It's all most like the world stops
for them until they've had a chance to move through this temporally projected
bit of fantasy. Love story or action flick it doesn't matter. "Oh wait a
minute I just want to hear this song, dad" or "I'll do my homework right
after he kisses her mom" .
For years we have told ourselves that
we, being the public have strong wills and further can make the distinction
between reality from fiction, but can we? Better yet, can our children? You
know, when I was a kid in the sixties dramas like "The days of our lives" and
"General Hospital" were the big entertainment of the day that about every woman
or young girl watched religiously.
I can't tell you how many times I've
heard girls and women alike cry over these silly shows because they were all
caught up in who did what to who. They would actually send condolence cards and
flowers to the studio.
Again, I can't begin to tell you in
how many occasions I saw people get so caught up in these shows that they
physically would start fighting with each other simply because one person said
something derogatory about one of the actor or actresses who either broke up,
divorced or died according to the script in the show.
In other instances, some persons
couldn't actually make the distinction between reality and fantasy and believed
that whatever happened on the show most certainly occurred in real life.
Scary. Like I said, this was occurring with adult people ranging from 60 to 20
years of age, mostly ladies and some times men.
These were people that didn't have
any noticeable emotional problems that I could see at the time yet, fantasy
blended into their reality from time to time. I myself started watching these
shows at one time because we only had two or three stations we could watch due
to reception,. Basically it was the only thing on.
After awhile, I even became upset
with things that occurred on the shows even though I had a good grasp on reality
and understood that it was just a show. For me, following the show was just to
chaotic and began wearing on my nerves lol.
I realized on day that I was actually
up set and shaking a bit as a result of all the drama within the show itself. Of
course, I stopped watching these nonsensical shows upon relieving that they were
screwing with me LOL. Why could this not happen to a child, or a adult or kid
22 years of age?
The folks I grew up around were
considered normal in every way by society at the time and conducted themselves
as such until the show came on, then they got weird in every way. We're they
crazy? I don't believe so.
Did they have momentary lapses of
sanity? I don't believe so yet, they had the capability to submerse themselves
into a fantasy world at will. They became verbally and psychically aggressive
towards one another on occasion while engaged in this emotional state of
fantasy. When the show was over most of them became placid and normal
again.
Let me remind you once more that most
of these people had good educations or were highly educated whom went to church
and had good family lives.
They were responsible, caring and
loving people who believe in good principles, whom had good morals, values and
standards. They didn't have the the troubles and pressures we have today and
their lives were built around he church and good social
standing.
I believe this same thing is
occurring with our younger members of society and this is why were all
experiencing these violent and murderous disruptions or outbreaks. Unlike the
folks back in the sixties and seventies, these kids are really living the story
for real in mincing what they see, hear and eventually experience thorough
self-imposed acts of violence against others.
As I've stated on other pages of the
site, these kids see no other way out of the alleged oppressive and controlling
world other then through the act of suicide, or in engaging in a murder/ suicide
on whatever level.
For those of you who don't really
know anything about us or our ideologies, we are a combination of Spiritualist,
Scientist and realist that believe in a Spiritual force that works through our
physical world.
We believe that this spiritual force
of creation does in fact exist while assisting us at times however, we must make
a effort in helping ourselves first by being realistic and addressing certain
issues head on. Failure isn’t a option.
We believe that everyone is held
responsible and accountable for their own actions or inactions and that we must
take positive and corrective actions of our own accord and moreover quit blaming
the government or God for everything that goes wrong in our
lives.
Our Constitution reads "we the
people" and not "we the church or state and federal governments". Our
governments are made strong through our efforts and we the people are made
strong through our governments proper and timely efforts.
Concerning the way our children are
raised is our responsibility and not the government's however, state can play a
role in assisting the parent by providing certain programs in which aid the
parent and child in times of crisis, or family disunity.
State programs can be started and
implemented to aid troubled children such as counseling programs, activity
programs to red flag potential problem in a child’s behavior.
However, the state
needs to recognize that the parent needs to be given the right to ultimately
decide what to do with a troubled child and so on.
A happy medium needs to exist between
county or state intervention and prenatal rights of guardianship. In short,
yield the parents the right and means to raise the kid without state
interference, especially when it's not needed but be there for the parent should
they have a need for assistance with the child.
Really, when it comes down to it I
would say that it is the parent's ultimate responsibility of the parents to
raise the child and to inform the legal authorities of any problems or potential
violent activities the child or young adult might be engaging
in.
The state and government has enough
to do from what I've heard and seen. As the old saying goes "It takes an entire
village to raise a child" and thus, it's time we all pull together and protect
our younger members of society through censorship and restriction of
movement.
It's time that we as a nation
understand that our kids aren’t our friends nor are they our equals. They are
children that need to be protected from the ravages of the
world.
They are impressionable, confused and
weak willed individuals who sometimes grow up to be assassins if we're not
careful.
Children are the products of their
environments and thus, if you surround them with death, violence and immorality
then this is what will eventually be reflected back to us at a latter date and
in a most evil way.
Like with any other issue were all
dealing with currently, this is a multi faceted problem that needs to be
addressed on several different fronts and further, at a time that we don't seem
to have that many resources open or available to us.
On the other hand, I don't think that
this is a lost cause or insurmountable issue to over come, but I do believe that
a community needs to get involved on the cellular level to correct this problem.
I won't give up on any kid because their all worth saving but on the same note,
we will have to draw the line on children who grow up to be adult
assassins.
I just believe it to be too late for
the person at this point as how can you undo what has all ready been so deeply
ingrained? Another point that I'd like to make here if I may; a person is the
victim of and some times a casualty of their environment.
Even though the Individual has
suffered a life of pain and abuse, even though he or she has been dealt a bad
hand in life, what matters is the conduct of the person over all. We all make
bad decisions in life to which we are some time forgiven for yet, other times
can't be over looked due to the seriousness of the
offense.
When children grow into adult
assassins who think nothing about taking another person's life, or lives then
we have to draw the line here as nothing warrants the taking of another life
unless it's in self defense.
Also, let's not forget about the
victim of these crimes whom no longer have a say in the matter. These persons
are gone prematurely as the result of anothers harmful
acts.
It doesn't matter what reasons or
reasons the offender had for doing what they did, nor does it matter what they
went through in their lives as much as it matter what they carried out against
an innocent person.
