Remember The Past: Break The Cycle Of
Fear
The paragraph below really say it all as those whom
forget the past are doomed to repeat it. This really makes sense when you think
about it because if you forget the past, then you forget the mistakes you've
made in the past, right? It only stands to reason that if you don't remember
the mistakes in the past then you can't learn from them. “George
Santayana, who, in his Reason in Common Sense, The Life of Reason, Vol.1, wrote
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." Rooted in the
philosophies of Socrates, Plato, Aristotle and many others to follow, his
biography (1863-1952)” http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Who_said_Those_who_ignore_history_are_bound_to_repeat_itOk, with this aside let's move on in why this page
was written. This particular page was written as a result of alleged political
slander, false association and out right accusation. When politicians start
making accusations against one another, or in comparing each other to Hitler and
his subordinates therein, this only exhibits political paranoia to which in turn
can lead into public mass hysteria in some cases.
Please visit the cited site along with the
paragraphs below as this outlines an exact situation that occurred in our recent
past and further suggest the possibilities that might occur in future days to
come in traveling down this same road. “The term Red
Scare denotes two distinct periods of strong Anti-Communism in the United
States: the First Red Scare, from 1919 to 1920, and the Second Red Scare, from
1947 to 1957.”“In March
1947, President Harry S. Truman signed Executive Order 9835, creating the
“Federal Employees Loyalty Program” establishing political-loyalty review boards
who determined the “Americanism” of Federal Government employees, and
recommended termination of those who had confessed to spying for the Soviet
Union, as well as some suspected of being Un-American. The House Committee on
Un-American Activities (HUAC) and the committees of Senator Joseph McCarthy (R.,
Wisc.)” “conducted said character investigations of
“American communists” (actual and alleged), and their roles in (real and
imaginary) espionage, propaganda, and subversion favoring the Soviet Union — in
the process revealing the extraordinary breadth of the Soviet spy network in
infiltrating the federal government; the process also launched the successful
political career of Richard Nixon, and Robert F. Kennedy,[12] as well as that of
Joseph McCarthy. McCarthy, a freshman Senator who died soon thereafter, realized
no political gain from the process”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Scare Here’s another
example of what happens when we don't remember our past and further what occurs
when we become so paranoid of some that we actually take it out on a entire
nation, or turn against our very own citizens within our nation. “Japanese-American internment was the
relocation and internment by the United States government in 1942 of
approximately 110,000 Japanese Americans and Japanese who lived along the
Pacific coast of the United States to camps called "War Relocation Camps," in
the wake of Imperial Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor.[1][2] The internment of
Japanese Americans was applied unequally throughout the United States.”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_American_internment President Franklin Delano Roosevelt authorized the
internment with Executive Order 9066, issued February 19, 1942, which allowed
local military commanders to designate "military areas" as "exclusion zones,"
from which "any or all persons may be excluded." This power was used to declare
that all people of Japanese ancestry were excluded from the entire Pacific
coast, including all of California and most of Oregon and Washington, except for
those in internment camps http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_American_internmentWhen our government became so paranoid of Communism
back in 1947, otherwise known as the “Cold War era”, this fear not only extended
to others in government but to everyone in the private sectors as well. The government
promoted and encouraged turning in your neighbor in the name of national
security as a measure to stop, or prevent outbreaks of socialist behavior they
thought to exist in the country at that time etc.We didn't stop there, as everyone was suspect and
not even the folks in the entertainment, movie, music and scientific communities
were immune from harassment and thus, numerous people experienced their lives in
financial disaster or ruin after being accused in being soviet spy’s or
sympathizers and whatever else. Courts, or
special committees were formed and so, the witch hunts began. Normally these
committees were formed with political leaders whom you'd never suspect would
take part in such a thing however, it's a matter of record, please read the
links above to find out more. To be accused
and then subpoenaed to one of these courts was much like being accused of child
molestation or murder, and tried in a kangaroo court back then, your life was
just over even if you were proven innocent or even exonerated of the charge,
talk about rail roading. On the other
hand, many American Japanese were incarcerated, or in-turned in so called
internment camps simply because of the color of their skin, national origin, or
being suspected of some affiliation with the alleged Japanese
underground.A special note,
no underground was ever found to exist according to various investigators whom
researched this issue in latter years. At least no underground linked to the
Japanese government that was thought to exist in the United States at the time,
or between the Japanese and American war. In the end, the
internment camps and the committees formed to seek out enemies of the state and
federal government were effective to some extent yet, their excessive pursuits,
or nondiscriminatory pursuits and prosecutions of persons not only ended up
violating the civil liberties of countless innocent people, but went against the
constitution across the board in a good many instances. Now, please
understand that this page isn't being written in a critical way, or directed at
any member of government however, the two members of government that could
benefit from this page whom certainly know who they are, lol. I believe that
when we forget our history then were doomed to repeat it. I also believe that
when we are aware of the mistakes of the past and moreover the out comes of
those situations, then this is purely reckless on a public persons part, in my
opinion. In other words,
to procreate mass panic through public statement in creating fear is
inappropriate to say the least. Yes, we do need to repair some things in this
country and yes, we do need to protect our borders by taking preventive
measures, but we also have a responsibility in the way we go about it. To be
fair and to always do the right thing. To compare others in government to Hitler, or an
entire nation or religious group to extremest factions, is irresponsible to say
the least especially when it's not been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt with
factual proof of statement. To group
everyone in the Islamic community with a hand full of terrorists, not leaving
out suggesting that they have infiltrated the U.S government, is a serious
charge in deed that needs to be backed up with some serious evidence. To suggest
something across a public mass medium with the full knowledge of what your doing
and further, having a good grasp of history, or what had transpired as a result
is dangerously reckless especially in today’s volatile political climate. I would hope
that my earlier messages or peace and responsible conduct of those in power has
been received in a positive way. Basically, accusations should be founded in
fact and so should comparisons made between war criminals and others that might
be mimicking the actions of these arch-criminals. For someone to
be compared to Adolph Hitler or his henchman would have to be a pretty bad apple
as these guys were the number one enemies of humanity over all with a very long
list of atrocities. To compare an entire religious system such as Islam with a
hand full of idiots such as the underwear bomber is just as silly. The underwear
bomber set out to kill innocent people on a plane and ended up having his dirty
ass under exposed over national and international T.V for months, what a jerk
LOL. Anyway, just my opinion.
